Day #30  Improved

Quite often in marketing we see and hear the phrase “New and Improved!”

This usually means the manufacturer tweaked their product to improve its performance, reliability, or appeal. Sometimes the product is altered for safety reasons.

I often looked at myself as a “product” in the business world, especially when I was a job seeker.

It was all about performance, reliability and appeal. Making myself noteworthy to an employer. Took college classes, attended workshops, and targeted my reading material to put me on track to be successful in my job or to land a job.

Unfortunately I didn’t balance it enough with improving myself for myself and I burned out from attempting to please other people.

I could barely reach for my toothbrush, let alone my highest potential. My entire belief system went up in flames as I crashed from mental and emotional exhaustion.

This was one of the darkest times during my transformation journey; yet it turned out to be the best of times. Because I had to be willing to take a long and lengthy look at my “product” and investigate why I didn’t take better care of myself so I could reach my highest potential and get the Law of Attraction to work for me in a positive way.

Here are some tips on how I changed and am continuing to change my core beliefs.

BE WILLING

Be open to change. Acknowledge and be willing to admit that there is always room for improvement in the mind, heart, body, soul and spirit. Even people who look like they “have it all” are making adjustments, constantly learning and staying in touch with life coaches or mentors.

The subconscious will resist change and cling to core beliefs. Being willing lets the subconscious know that “Hey willingness isn’t so bad or threatening. I guess I could be open to listening and taking a peek.”

READ “YOU CAN HEAL YOUR LIFE”

Louise L. Hay wrote the classic book on transformation and restructuring one’s life. She writes about willingness and the steps to take to peel back layers of resistance. Hay has assisted thousands of people on their path to reaching their full potential daily.

DIG PAST THE SURFACE

Be willing to examine where your core beliefs came from. Question them. Is your belief system out of date? Is it based on other people’s beliefs and expectations? What emotions are attached to the beliefs?

ASK YOURSELF WHY

Why do you want to change? What will you get out of it? How will changing core beliefs affect your life? Why don’t you want to become new and improved and reach your highest potential?  Many times feelings of unworthiness and fear stop us cold and prevent us from moving forward.

SHIFT YOUR PARADIGM

A new perspective changes the way you see things.  The only way I was able to change my perspective was to ask for help from the CEO of the Universe. You may find other ways to alter your view point. I needed a supernatural power to give me the strength, courage, and wisdom to blast through core beliefs written in stone.

Accept that becoming new and improved takes time and energy. Refuse to rush the process.

Today’s affirmation is, “I am willing to be new and improved. I am capable of growing and reaching my highest potential every day.”

Transformation, one word, one day at a time.

Change your outlook.

Change your behavior.

Day #29  Priceless

Feeling valuable and precious is so tough for some of us.

In the past, I tried to give the impression of  being a valuable person, by spending a great deal of time and money getting my hair styled and keeping it that way, working out at a trendy fitness center and choosing the oh-so-right clothes.

I couldn’t afford to drive the hottest car or live in a status symbol home; however they were always a part of my goals to achieving a major sense of worth.

Alas, no matter what I purchased or how many goals were set and affirmations said, deep down inside, I still didn’t feel satisfied or valuable enough.

And that, my friend, is the heart of the matter. I equated my worth and “feeling good enough” with symbols of money and power.

For too many years I thought the path to feeling good enough and being really worth something was earning a million dollars or writing a couple of bestselling books.

During my transformation journey I discovered that the most powerful being in existence, the CEO of the Universe, didn’t equate my value with material things.

1 Samuel 16:7 KJV says, “But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as a man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.”

If the King of Kings doesn’t look at outward appearances or material things, then why should I?

Isn’t the heart far more precious than jewels?

How I treat myself and in turn treat other people is far more precious than having expensive things and living a luxurious life. Of course those things would be nice; however, I no longer equate my value with what I have.

When I decided to work every day for the CEO of the Universe and learn more about how He operates, I finally found my worth.

And it is priceless.

Today’s affirmation is, “I am priceless and precious. I release the need or desire to believe my value is tied to material things.”

Transformation, one word, one day at a time.

Change your outlook.

Change your behavior.

Day #24  Fearless

It’s Fearless Friday!

What step can you take today to move toward your fondest desire, discover your purpose, and share with the world your gifts and talents?

Last week you were encouraged to imagine it’s your 90th birthday and you’re asked, “Any regrets?”

Did you write down your answer?  Did you fill in the blank, “Well, I wished I would have ______________.”

Did your instinct, your inner voice reveal something that surprised you or is this something you’ve had a passion to do for a long time? Perhaps you came up with several things you yearn to do.

You might have ended up writing down what you are not happy doing. Venting about feeling dissatisfied and miserable about your current career or lifestyle.

That’s okay! Being that uncomfortable means it’s really time to change direction and select a new path.

Today we’re going to take your “fill in the blank” answer and identify what gifts and talents it takes to fulfill it.

Refuse to worry or concentrate on the how you’re going to fulfill it.

Right now you’re simply on a discovery mission to break it down to gifts, talents, skills.

Do you need math skills?  Communication skills?  Dancing lessons? Singing lessons? Do you need to listen well? Do you need the ability to play, think freely or strategically, to build or motivate? Do you need mechanical skills?

What makes it so appealing to you? What passion does it ignite? What resonates with you?

If you could turn back the hands of time or move forward to the future and fulfill your desire(s) what emotions do you feel?

Are people involved?

Is there an audience, are you part of an audience, behind the scenes?

List the positive qualities it takes to fulfill your fondest desire.

Next week, I’ll show you how to use this information to find your purpose.

Today’s affirmation is, “I am Fearless. Today I am willing to examine my deepest desires and take another step toward learning my purpose.”

Transformation, one word, one day at a time.

Change your outlook.

Change your behavior.

Day #22  Awesome

Told you this word would be repeated in the 365 Days of Transformation.

It is such an excellent feel-good word. When you reply to “How are you?” with “Awesome!” it always brings a smile to people’s faces.

When it’s a wistful smile and people say, “Oh, that’s so nice to hear someone is having a good day. Wish I could feel that way.”

Reply with, “You can! You have the power to choose to feel awesome even when things don’t appear to be going your way. Breathe deeply several times to clear your mind and remember a time when you experienced an awesome moment. Latch on to that feeling and keep it with you.”

Granted, it takes practice, however it is so worth it.

Your mind, heart, body, soul, and spirit feels so good remembering that experienced moment that it lightens and brightens your day. And in turn, lightens and brightens other people’s day.

Let divine intelligence help you remember experiences where you felt on top of the world. Listen to that inner voice and feel good.

Repeat for five minutes upon awakening and five minutes before falling asleep, “I am awesome. Divine intelligence is in me. I am happy, grateful and willing to listen and respond to my inner voice.

Transformation, one word, one day at a time.

Change your outlook.

Change your behavior.

Day #20  Delightful

Some days it’s just so simple.

“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 KJV

That kind of trust brings a supernatural cheer to the day.

And isn’t that delightful?

Day #19  Satisfied

I am satisfied.

The weight of the world is lifted when I release the need or desire to fix, control, or own what belongs to someone else.

I used to have a crazy need, a burning desire to fix other people’s problems.

When someone came to me, crying, angry, or frustrated by life, I’d jump right smack dab in the middle of the fray and offer to solve their issues.

I became so involved.

Trying to fill the emptiness inside me, my life was about living for everyone else, instead of living for myself.

As I began to talk daily with the CEO of the Universe the emptiness subsided and the desire to control other people receded.

It wasn’t easy. There were times old habits ruled and I’d find myself talking with the CEO before going to sleep and apologizing for the day’s behavior.

Gradually I created a new habit. Every time my thoughts turned toward stepping into a family, friend, coworker’s – anybody’s – turmoil and getting too deeply drawn in, I said a quick prayer.

“Dear Father, through your son Christ Jesus, I ask you and thank you for releasing me from the need or desire to fix, control, or own what belongs to someone else. Please guide me, show me what you want me to do and give me the words of your counsel if they are needed. Let your will be done, for I know only good will come even if I’m not involved. You know me and you know this situation, I trust you to handle it. Amen.”

Can’t even begin to tell you how many times my “needed” involvement simply faded away. Or by the time I had said my prayer the person had already changed the subject. When I was really needed, the CEO always supplied the right words for the situation and moving forward, I was able to leave it alone.

The more I got to know the CEO of the Universe, the more Psalm 107:9 KJV came true, “For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.”

Transformation, one word, one day at a time.

Change your outlook.

Day #18 Beautiful

I get to choose what I believe.

I am willing to believe that my thoughts, mind, heart, body, soul, and spirit are beautiful.

Say the words aloud while looking in a mirror for five minutes in the morning and five minutes before you go to sleep at night.

Write down the thoughts that come to mind as you say the words. Write down any dreams or thoughts that come to you as you are sleeping.

Good for you and keep it up if your thoughts agree that you are indeed beautiful.

If you have disagreeing thoughts, ask yourself where they came from. Are they your beliefs or did they come from family, friends, classmates, coworkers, colleagues?

The CEO of the Universe thinks you are beautiful. We are a part of His “marvelous works” and anything “fearfully and wonderfully made” has a beauty all its own. (Psalm 139:14 KJV)

There were many times on my journey of transformation I approached the CEO of the Universe with hot anger in my heart. Too busy comparing myself to other women; I refused to see my own beauty.

Eventually His everlasting love light broke through the layers of resistance and now when some asks how I’m feeling and I answer “Beautiful,” I believe it. (Jeremiah 31:3 KJV)

You can too.

Transformation, one word, one day at a time.

Change your outlook.

Day #17  Fearless

It’s Fearless Friday!

Every Friday I’m going to encourage you to be fearless and take a step toward your fondest desire and share with the world your gifts and talents.

This week’s step is identifying your fondest desire. Have you stopped putting everyone else ahead of you and taken time to figure out what you want to do? If not, it’s time to find out.

Please don’t do what I did and wait decades to acknowledge the power of your gifts and find the courage to pursue your dreams. To become the best person you are capable of being.

Imagine it’s your 90th birthday and you’re asked, “Any regrets?”

“Well, I wished I would have __________.” Fill in the blank with the first answer that pops up. If you respond with more answers, write everything down.

Do it quickly. Pay attention to your first instinctive response(s). What does your gut tell you? No matter how wild and outrageous or simple and ordinary just listen to your inner voice.

Don’t think about it and if you do, don’t think about it too long. That’s when your mind starts revving up with fifty thousand reasons why you can’t do what you yearn to do.

I truly believe the CEO of the Universe has a position for each of us in his organization.

What you yearn to do in the deepest regions of your heart usually matches the “job description” the CEO has designed for you. Sometimes, though it just doesn’t look like what you expected.

Trusting that only good will come increases faith and decreases fear.

We all have gifts and talents that can make a difference in another’s life. We must stop second-guessing ourselves and letting fear tie us to our doubts. One of the saddest and most wasteful acts is to be afraid and bury our gifts, our talents.  (Matthew 25:14-28 KJV)

Let’s be fearless and never miss out on the opportunity to be aware of what we are designed to be.

The affirmation for today’s word is, “I am Fearless. I am asking with gratitude to be shown my gifts and purpose. I am willing to be fearless and share them with the world.”

Transformation, one word, one day at a time.

Change your outlook.

Change your behavior.

Day #16  Adventurous

When you see or hear the word “adventurous” what comes to mind?

Trekking through Nepal?

Searching for treasure on the high seas?

Jungle expeditions in the Amazon or surfing the Gold Coast, Australia?

It makes me think of exploring the unknown and taking risks. It can also mean trying new methods or ideas.

One of the finest adventures I give myself is exploring my potential. Learning to step outside the comfort zone and see what I’m capable of let’s me live the adventure every day. It has transformed my life from existing to thriving.

Here are some tips on how to be more adventurous that are working for me. I hope you find them helpful.

DECIDE TO BE ADVENTUROUS

Recognize when you are seeing, feeling and believing that everything around you has become routine and automatic. Recognize when you are no longer growing or stretching your mind. Has the ability to be amazed by life faded?

STEP OUTSIDE THE COMFORT ZONE

Step doesn’t mean leap. Take baby steps of exploration. Start by asking yourself, “What does adventurous mean?” Taking on an extra assignment at work? Buying a book on how to paint? Posting one blog on LinkedIn?

Repeating the affirmation, “I am comfortable with being uncomfortable,” widens the comfort zone allowing your subconscious to believe it is okay to try something new.

TAKE ACTION

Taking steps means taking action. There’s comes a time when you have to stop planning and start DOING. Do what you can, when you can. Set goals and rewards. Write down every success, even the tiniest ones, so you can do a look-back and see how far you’ve come.

Refuse to compare yourself to anyone else. Remember you are always attempting to discover the best of your capability, not someone else’s.

Repeat along with me, “I am feeling adventurous. I am willing to step outside my comfort zone and explore my hidden potential.”

Transformation, one word, one day at a time.

Change your outlook.

Change your behavior.
